After tons of technical issues with my computer, it looks like things are finally back to normal. This year I was asked to be part of the Dia de los Muertos exhibit at The Oakland Museum of California . I'm very excited and honored to be included because I have enjoyed attending the exhibit for the past few years. Artists construct altars in the museum and I was asked to paint a mural near the entryway to the exhibit. Below is a sample of the mural. If you are in the neighborhood, there is a community celebration this Sunday October 23rd from 12-4. All ages are welcome. There'll be food, music and dance. I hope to see you there!

One more quick update. I was asked to be part of a show at Galeria De La Raza in the Mission District of San Francisco. The show is titled, 'Trazos: Myth and Memory' and will be on display 'till September. The opening is July 16th. I won't be able to make it because I will be at Comic Con that weekend, but I hope you will stop by. I will have lots of original Pablo pages, new images from my 'Day of the Dead' book along with a painting. They also asked me to paint the wall around where my art will hang. Below are some images from the wall without the artwork in place.

• 7-9-2005 - 11:21am
Hi Everyone. Right off the press is a new limited print that introduces characters from my upcoming book that takes place in a 'Day of the Dead' world. I'm really excited about this project and I thought I'd kick it off with a silkscreen print. It's an edition of 100 and I will be selling it at Comic Con and on this site, if any are left after the convention. More on this project soon.

It's just a few days away, the big San Diego Comic Con! On July 13-17th Jamie Baker and I will be at booth #1229, I recently received the Pablo's Inferno Trade Paperback reprint just in time for the convention (new cover below). Also back by demand is the Pablo's Inferno "Dancing Skeleton" T-Shirt! (available here after Comic Con) Along with that, I've painted a few paintings for some of my friends who got married this summer, below is a sample of one.

• 5-24-2005 - 10:22pm
I just added a few sketches on my other site, rhodemontijo.com in the sketches section. I also just sent for more Pablo's Inferno trades to get reprinted. I should have more in the Goodies section soon and also at the San Diego Convention in July.

• 5-03-2005 - 10:25pm
Hello all! A.P.E con has come and gone and it was good times! The limited run of the Pablo's Inferno Trade is sold out, thanks to everyone who picked one up! Here are a couple of quick things. I just did a cover to Death Junior #2 for Image colored by Jenny Hansen, I don't know the ship date, but I think it may be this month. I've never done this, but I wanted to share a product that has helped me out. in a lot of ways. It's called Sta-Wet Premeir Palette by Masterson and if you use any acrylics, this thing keeps your paints moist while you paint and lasts for days when sealed. It has kept me from wasting paint/money and keep colors that I mix, fresh. I'm not affiliated with these guys, but I just highly recommend it for all you acrylic painters!

Happy October everyone! I've been too busy for updates on my site (I know, I know...), but I managed to squeeze in a few things with a Halloween theme, because I love me some Halloween! Here's a card design, two colored sketches and the witch from the Wizard of Oz (I know it's not really Halloween-themed, but it's a witch!) I hope you make this 31st a good one!

Another San Diego Comic-Con has come and gone and I cant wait for next year! Thank you to all who stopped by my booth and showed your support. I used this years convention to unveil (finally, after all these years) my Pablos Inferno Trade Paperback! It collects all five issues and is a whopping 200 pages- I only printed a short run of 200 copies. I have a few left over and you can pick one up for a limited time on the goodies section of my site. I will sign and do a little sketch in each book. I am also making available, Scribbles and Bits, which is a 64 page book of personal sketches collected over the years. Ill try to get the new shirts up soon, as well. Also, I recently came across a Pablo's Inferno Animatic I did years ago with my buddy Edward Artinian. We did it at his studio, at the time, but barely scratched the surface by only getting a few scenes animated. You can take a sneak peek for yourself. It may take awhile to load and oh, theres sound.

It has been a busy couple of months with, among other things, getting ready for the San Diego Comic Convention on July 22-25; right around the corner! I am pleased to announce a few new things that Ill premiere at the con. For the first time, I compiled some sketches from over the years in a book called Scribbles and Bits (samples shown below). I will also introduce new T-shirt designs (also below). For anyone attending this year, I will be at booth #1323 alongside my buddies; Jamie Baker with his hilarious book, Rocket Rabbit and Sam Hiti with his epic End Times book. These guys do great work, I hope you take a moment to check out their sites! Also, my roommate will be there with his super FunFun toys, make sure to check him out at booth #4623. Mondo Media and a bunch of the Happy Tree Friends crew will also be there at #4149. I will be at their booth every day from 2-4. Finally, heres some upcoming gallery group shows: TRAFFIC July 10th starting at 10 am in Union Square, Powell Street, San Francisco. July 16th 111 Minna Street Gallery 9pm-2am. I hope you will visit if you make it to any of these events!

This month: two extremes, one fine art and one commercial. This is a painting I did for an upcoming group show called SECTIONS. Each artist was given three words and were asked to do their interpretation. My words were, Parts, Thirds, and Sects. The opening reception is Thursday, May 6th in San Francisco, come on by if you can! For more info and flyer click here Also, I worked on redesigning the M & M Minis about a year ago and I just started seeing them pop-up recently in commercials and on packaging- crazy. Finally, I've been hard at work on some projects that I hope to unveil at this year's San Diego Comic Convention on July 22-25!

Thanks to everyone who stopped by my booth at the Alternative Press Expo. Here a couple of recent paintings. It's been forever since I painted in oils, but I was fortunate to take a class recently. I pretty much copied my instrustor's painting, but made a little adjustment to a water tower in the scene. I also was asked to be a fellow ghostbot at ghostbot.com. Each contributor is asked to do their version of a ghostbot. Lastly, I added a few new sketches to rhodemontijo.com

• 1-19-2004 - 3:58 PM
Happy 2004! I tried to start things off with something new this year by making a sculpture. Here's a bad picture of it for now, but I hope to have better pics at rhodemontijo.com soon!
